Chapter 94: Skirmish (2)

Chapter 94: Skirmish (2)

Clang!

Seraph blocked with his spear, but he was still pushed back by several meters.

Skidding to a stop, he looked up and smiled at the old man that had attacked him.

"An elder? Hm, that’s more expensive than I thought."

He knew someone was hiding, but couldn’t find them. That was why he had resorted to mass killing to draw their attention.

Finally, the hidden Inferno Sect elder had appeared to confront him.

"Brat, you’re merely a Core Master Stage Cultivator. Just like you killed those lower than you, I’ll do the same."

Seraph smiled, confirming that the man was a Peak Master Stage cultivator.

’Definitely not a problem.’

He rolled his shoulders and got ready to fight.

"Good. It’s good to die in battle."

The man laughed and lunged at Seraph, unleashing his spiritual pressure. It was heavy and suffocating, but didn’t even make Seraph flinch.

Having stepped into the King Stage before, he was completely unfazed by the spiritual pressure of a Master Stage cultivator.

"You’re too weak."

He smirked, then struck at the old man’s torso with his spear.

"Too weak?"

The old man laughed, swatting aside Seraph’s spear with his heavy sword. Then, he stomped on the ground.

"Magma Domain!"

The ground boiled, and red lava flowed to the surface, reminding Leon of his experience in the dragon nest years ago.

Smiling, he casted his own technique.

"Fire Domain!"

From the hot, boiling ground, flames erupted wildly, engulfing both Seraph and the old man.

"Ah! How can your flames be so strong?"

Thinking Seraph was a disciple of the Summer Peak, he wasn’t surprised that the young man could use flames. Instead, he was more astonished by the fact that Seraph’s flames were so pure and intense.

"Brat, don’t think you can use this to win me! I’ll still kill you."

Snorting, he stepped forward while protecting himself from the fire with spiritual energy.

Seraph smiled and drew an invisible arrow. A flaming arrow manifested in his hand, and he shot it straight at the man.

"Brat! You still haven’t learned?! Using fire to attack me is useles—"

Before he could complete his sentence, the fire arrow struck his chest.

To his shock, he felt a flash of pain and the sensation of being burned.

"Impossible!"

He roared, immediately defending himself with pure spiritual energy while retreating.

"What did you do? I have fire resistance. Such tricks aren’t supposed to hurt me."

Seraph smiled and answered, looking like a demon in hell with the flames around him.

"You have fire resistance, but not fire immunity. Don’t think you’re free from being burnt."

As soon as he said this, he drew another fire arrow and shot it at the man.

The Inferno Sect elder immediately dodged, his expression hardening.

"You’re really more troublesome than I thought."

Raising his sword, he threw a straight slash at him.

"Crescent flame!"

The arc of red flames swooped straight at Seraph, but he didn’t even dodge. Raising his hand, twenty water blades were manifested and flew towards the crescent flame.

’This kid.’

The man’s eyes narrowed, noticing how precisely Seraph controlled all the water blades.

To his surprise, the water blades completely extinguished his crescent flame.

’This... what a monster!’

He had never met a junior who made him feel this way except for the top disciples of the Inferno Sect.

’I have to kill him. He’s a big threat to us.’

Grabbing his sword, he decided to engage in melee combat with Seraph.

Seraph gladly welcomed him. Although he was physically weaker than the man because of his lower cultivation, his skills made up for the gap in strength.

He easily blocked and deflected attacks, without even using his Seraphim Spear techniques.

Seeing that the old man wasn’t really posing a threat, he frowned.

"Are you this weak? It’s getting boring."

The old man’s eyes widened in shock, and increased his aggressiveness.

It was only then that Seraph felt a bit of pressure mounting on his shoulders.

"As expected of an old fogey like you."

Grinning, Seraph retreated and whispered.

"Seraphim Spear: First Form—Cyclone."

As the man’s sword came down upon him, he twirled the spear in his hand, turning it into a temporary shield.

"It’s coming."

Bang!

The sword slammed onto the spinning spear, and was thrown back heavily. The old man stumbled back in shock, not expecting such a devastating attack to be cancelled out.

Even the flames engulfing the sword were snuffed out.

["Reminds me of a show you watched back then. Was it Aquarium? Aquaman? Hm, I don’t remember."]

Hearing Halo suddenly chip in, Seraph became suspicious.

He looked back at the battle between Song and Marian, realizing it was coming to a close

"Retreat!!!"

The old man suddenly shouted, also realizing that their side was losing badly. Although they had initially outnumbered the Summer Peak disciples who came out to fight, Seraph had erased such an advantage by killing several Inferno Sect disciples.

"We lost..."

He gritted his teeth and whispered to himself, then he turned to Seraph.

"Boy, be happy you survived today. Next time we meet, I’ll surely burn you to death."

Seraph was about to attack him, but Song appeared and placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Leave them."

Mirian flew to the old man’s side, snorted, then walked away haughtily. The Inferno Sect disciples immediately pulled back with them and fled, leaving only corpses and fire at the base of the Summer Peak.

"Why are we letting them go?" He asked, looking at the corpses on the ground with a forlorn look. "Both sects have disciples who died here. Shouldn’t it be a battle to death?"

Song smiled and shook her head. "It isn’t yet a war, Seraph. Let’s return, I’ll explain a few things to you when we get back."

She walked up to the only core disciple that came from the Summer Peak, said a few things to him.

The disciple nodded, giving her a grateful bow before rounding up his fellow disciples and asking then to start gathering the corpses of their dead comrades.

Meanwhile, Song returned to Seraph with a weary expression.

"Let’s go home."
