Chapter 97: Elder Mei’s reassurance

Chapter 97: Elder Mei’s reassurance

Seraph’s spear pierced the throat of an Inferno Sect disciple, killing him on the spot.

Before the girl’s body could drop to the ground, he had already killed three more disciples.

With Fang stalling the Inferno Sect’s core disciple, Seraph was free to do as he wished.

Suddenly, his spear was blocked by a set of claws, saving the disciple who was about to get skewered.

The young disciple sighed in relief, only for a wind blades to slice through his neck and behead him.

After killing that guy, Seraph finally turned to look at the spirit beast that had blocked his spear.

It was a bear, standing on its two feet and growling at him threateningly.

Seraph glared back, then immediately attacked it. Using his spear to push its hand down, he sent a large, concentrated water blades at its chest.

The attack hit, but the beast was barely injured. Its fur crackled with fire, and it clawed at Leon’s face.

He blocked with his spear, then rained down heavy attacks on it.

The beast roared as it was forced back despite being on the same level as him.

"You’re a mere beast."

In just a few minutes, the beast was riddled with injuries, and its flames had waned. Seraph glanced at the disciples who had distanced themselves from the battle between the two, then looked back at the spirit beast.

"Get out of my way."

Seraph waved his hand, and the bear was pushed into a meat grinder made of over a thousand wind blades.

Soon, its impenetrable fur was broken, and the wounds on its body piled up enormously.

The bear tried to escape, but it could only shatter up to a hundred before they were recreated and replaced.

Seraph smiled and showed no mercy. He raised his spear and stabbed the head of the beast, killing it in one smooth strike.

The hunched woman glared at him furiously. That spirit beast was one she had raised from little, helping it grow stronger and treating it like a child.

Now, right before her eyes, an audacious youth had killed it.

The younger elder smiled and thought inwardly. ’Now, you’ll be the one to bring the crazy woman’s attention to us.’

As expected, the hunched elder lunged at Seraph, disregarding the rule of not targeting disciples while being an elder.

Seraph barely blocked her attack. Her palm struck his spear, and the weapon bent inward like it was going to snap.

Seraph’s eyes widened, and he immediately tried to overwhelm the woman with wind blades and water blades.

However, she was faster and stronger.

Shattering the attacks with her palms, she stepped closer to him and struck at his head.

Seraph’s thoughts slowed. If he used the spear to block again, then it would definitely snap and break, possibly piercing his eyes.

’What... to do?’

Suddenly, he felt the atmosphere change. There was a bone-chilling coldness that swept across the battlefield, and even the hunched elder halted.

Seraph turned around, then froze.

An older woman with pure white hair, was floating right above the battlefield, radiating so much pressure that some of the weaker disciples collapsed and fell unconscious.

Her gaze was fixed on the hunched elder. After a moment of silence, she spoke.

"Old Goat. You dare to break a rule in my sight?"

The hunched elder frowned and took a step back. She tried to come up with an excuse, but there was none.

At that moment, the younger elder glared at the white-haired woman and shouted.

"You must be Elder Mei, right? I’ll kill you by myself."

Without waiting, she immediately lunged at the woman, surprising the other Inferno Sect elders.

"Dina? Get back here!" The last elder, a middle-aged man immediately shouted, but it was too late.

"Meteor Shower!"

The young lady grinned and shouted, using one of her AOE skills to attack Elder Mei.

Tens of flaming meteors rained from the sky, causing the battle between the disciples to pause. They all looked up in horror, feeling dread like they were going to die.

Elder Mei didn’t even glance at the meteors. She merely waved her hand, and the flames were snuffed out. The rocks cracked and crumbled into fine sand, pouring down on the disciples harmlessly.

The young elder was stunned that such a powerful attack had been neutralized easily.

"Oi! Old man, won’t you support me?!"

She turned back and shouted at the other elder who was starting to regret bringing her along.

He gritted his teeth and joined her in the sky to confront the white-haired woman.

Dina grinned and glanced down at the hunched woman. "Elder, deal with that guy while we deal with her, okay?"

The woman couldn’t even answer. She sighed, then turned to Seraph with a murderous gaze.

"I’ll kill you!"

She took a step forward and got ready to attack him, only for her to hear a broken cry from above.

"Arghk-!"

Dina fell from the sky, skewered by so many icicles. She landed before the hunched elder, shivering and coughing up blood.

"Elder... help us... gahh!"

The older woman felt like crying. Wasn’t she the one who was so bold about confronting Elder Mei? Why couldn’t even last a single second?

’Hah! So arrogant, weren’t you? Now you’re asking for my help? Don’t drag me to death, you brat!’

Gritting her teeth, she glared at Seraph one last time, then shouted.

"RETREAT!"

As if hearing a great news, the terrified Inferno Sect disciples immediately turned around and started fleeing.

Elder Mei glanced at the retreating disciples, then ordered her own disciples.

"Kill them."

The Winter Peak disciples roared with vigor, and immediately began launching attacks at the retreating enemies.

Seraph also joined in, becoming a dreadful reaper that hunted for souls.

When the Inferno Sect disciples finally escaped, they were barely half their original number.

Seraph sucked in a cold breath, letting it cool his thumping heart.

He calmed down a bit, then turned to look at the white-haired woman floating in the air, radiating an aloof aura.

’You...’

He shook his head, deciding not to get involved with her for now. Just as he turned around to leave, she looked at him and sent a voice transmission to his mind.

’You don’t have to worry, Seraph. I will endure Ariana and Tamar are fine. I’m only waiting for my husband to awaken and protect the Winter Peak before I go look for them.’

Seraph looked back at her, nodded, and disappeared from her view.

"Greetings to the Elder."

On the ground, every Winter Peak disciple knelt to her, displaying absolute respect to her.

She glanced at them, nodded, then gave a short sentence.

"Stay strong. The Winter Peak isn’t a home to weaklings."

The disciples felt honored to hear her voice and cheered in their hearts.

Meanwhile, Seraph returned to the Soul Peak in a bad mood. Although Elder Mei had assured him that Ariana and the others would be fine, he couldn’t dispell his worries.

"Eh? Senior Brother Seraph!"

Hearing that voice, Seraph looked up to see Kael smiling and running at him.

The young boy hugged him, then looked up excitedly. Seraph smiled instinctively, feeling the weight on his heart lightening.

"Hey, Kael. How’re you doing?"

The young boy smiled and answered. "I’m doing good, Senior Brother. It has been a while I saw you."

Seraph nodded. "Hm, I’ve been a bit busy these days."

Then, he noticed something. "Oh? Your cultivation has increased? Congratulations, boy."

Kael immediately grinned. "Hehe. Thank you, Senior Brother."

Seraph patted the boy’s head, then led him to the cafeteria.

"Alright. Let’s eat together."

The boy was excited, and they both entered the building. There were only few disciples there, as most disciples were either training or cultivating.

"What do you want to eat, boy?"

Kael blinked innocently, then asked. "But it’s free, isn’t it? I just have to serve myself."

Seraph’s lips twitched, feeling like the boy was too smart.

"Of course, I’m aware. But I’m going to help you serve the food. In the future, you can boast about it that a Core Court disciple served you food."

Kael’s eyes lit up, and he immediately began making his orders. Seraph smiled and helped him dish everything, feeling like an older brother.

’I can’t wait to meet my original brother...’

His smile turned genuine as he remembered that he now had a younger sibling back at home.

’I wonder how Yelena is doing. Damn. I didn’t think I’d grow attached to this family.’

"Senior Brother?"

Kael’s voice snapped him out of his thoughts, and he immediately smiled at the boy, handing him his food.

"Go sit at that table. I’m coming."

The boy nodded obediently, then ran off to the table Seraph had pointed out.

Seraph then served himself little food, not having any appetite at all.

’I said I’ll celebrate with him after all, I have to force myself to eat this little.’

Picking up his plate, he turned around and noticed an inner court disciple that seemed to be trying to avoid his gaze.

’Oh... isn’t it that guy?’
